As an active citizen working to have the inadequate senior center facility improved and eventually replaced, I am urging voters to approve Proposition 1, the annexation of the city of Lynnwood into the Sno-Isle library system. All the cities around Lynnwood are currently using this system.
Presently the City of Lynnwood library operates under the District costing $1.1 million for future building needs with an increase of $400,000 per year minimum. The library contract is paid from Lynnwood city taxes. It directly competes for money against fire, police, emergency medical, street and traffic services, senior center and other core city services.
When this annexation passes, Lynnwood has a written guarantee with the district that the regional library will stay in Lynnwood.
The facilities that make a community are an investment in ourselves and the quality of life.
Do what is right, vote “yes” for the annexation so we can get the best value for our tax dollars.
