Regarding the heartfelt message of needed funding for Families &Friends of Violent Crime Victims by Mark Roe in his July 23 guest commentary:
Our check is in the mail. As a family who sat at his table and suffered all of the agonies he described, we have experienced the need and support of Families &Friends. When Jenny Weiland shared her own loss with me, I knew I could trust her comforting advice. We attended the December Remembrance program six months after the loss of our son in the brutal attack in his home.
It was both a sobering and uplifting experience to share the heartbreaking stories of so very many families. It’s amazing what you can learn to be thankful for.
Our family will never be the same. There will always be a sense of loss of presence even while we accept new beginnings. This year we welcomed a great-grandson who will know his maternal grandfather only by stories and pictures.
So it is with love and remembrance of our son, Lawrence Bruce Kloes that we support Families &Friends of Violent Crimes Victims.
Please help with what you can. The recent rash of tragic murders only emphasizes the need.
