As I read John Sleeper’s column, “Worthy of a standing ovation” on Sunday morning, I was taken aback by the fact that the Seattle Thunderbirds had donated $2,341 to the Dave Piland family to help out with the cost associated with Dave’s cancer. As an Everett Silvertips season ticket holder, my Silvertips hat goes off to the Seattle Thunderbirds for their support, as I too, bought one of the wrist bands that were sold to help the Piland family and have not, nor will not, take it off till Dave gets a clean bill of health.
In a true show of sportsmanship, the next time Seattle comes to Everett to play our Silvertips, I hope the Everett fans will rise to their feet and give the Thunderbirds the “standing ovation” they are worthy of.
