It is very interesting listening to and reading all the rhetoric about the low math scores and the innovative ideas to learn math.
One easy solution is to give the kid a math book.
I was appalled to learn that my eighth-grade grandson did not have a math book. One math book for the whole class that you cannot take home. The teacher copied the assignment for each child and then they had to do their homework without a book. No book to look up a rule you forgot or previous examples, etc.
As a matter of fact, because they did not have books, then they did not need a locker. So carry coat, backpack, and lunch around all day. Lay the backpack down and poof, it is gone!
