I went with a bad attitude the other night to see “Take Me America,” having read The Herald’s review of the Issaquah run. But midway throughout the first song, I was hooked! The storylines were filled with poignant and thought-provoking songs, beautifully sung. The songs gave me empathy and a deeper understanding of the characters.
At times it was hard to understand the words, but it was not until the third time I went to see “Les Miserables” and after listening to the soundtrack that I fully understood the message. That is what I felt with this show. There is more to “Take Me America” than a casual listening in a tra-la-la standard musical attitude.
I don’t know what the show was like in Issaquah, but in Everett it was excellent!
