In regard to comments made by Sharon Angle, who is running for the U.S. Senate seat from Nevada currently held by Harry Reid, I have to say that I find it troubling that there are politicians out there who even consider revolution. (Friday article, “U.S. Senate candidate talks of armed revolt.”)
For one, it is a bit of an oxymoron. Secondly, the last time a large group of people got fed up with the government’s policies and eventually resorted to force to solve their problems, more than 600,000 soldiers died. And that was before the invention of machine guns, tanks and aircraft.
I understand why Angle disapproves of Congress, many people rightly do. But I wonder if she ever thought about the possible implications of her words.
