With all the recent ideas bounced around on how to raise money for road repairs, here’s one. I think that there should be a user tax on vehicles that use studded tires in Washington. I have lived here my whole life and have never seen a need for studded tires. The damage is evident by all the ruts worn into our roads and freeways.
So, let’s start an initiative to charge $50 annual per studded tire. If the fee is not paid and the owner is stopped by a police officer, the fine is doubled.
