Rick Larsen voted recently to reinstate the Marriage Tax Penalty. This tax penalty puts a large burden on middle class families.
Congressman Larsen campaigned in 2000 against the marriage penalty, so apparently there is yet another promise he made that is being broken. The tax code should treat all taxpayers fairly and equally. Couples should not be forced to pay more taxes simply because they change their marital status.
Fortunately the Permanent Repeal of the Marriage Tax Penalty Relief Act of 2002 (HR 4019) passed the House – in spite of Mr. Larsen’s opposition.
Mr. Larsen’s vote was the wrong vote for the families of the 2nd District and I will remember it when I go to the polls this November. I hope you will consider it when you cast your vote also.
