Well, it would seem the media is at it again. Virtually every day we are faced with the high cost of gas and the unfair profits of the oil industry. But interestingly enough, there is never a word said about how much of that price is taxation.
How about a little balance? How much of the average cost of a gallon of gas in the Puget Sound area is actually tax that the “greedy oil industry” does not get?
Remember, candidate Kerry discussed increasing the federal gas tax by 50 cents per gallon. That doesn’t even touch recent increases of 7 cents here and 10 cents there and 20 cents here and 5 percent there, etc.
All I’m asking for is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
