My taxes on our modest home in Snohomish County in 2011 were $3,400.00. In 2018, they are now $4,800. The inflation calculator says that a $100 dollars in 2011 is now worth $112 in 2018. This is an inflation rate of 1.57. This means my taxes have gone up far greater than the inflation rate. In fact, according to this inflation rate, my taxes should be $3,800. There is absolutely no excuse for this. What we have here is government “creep” and death from a thousand tax “improvements.”
Government has no incentive to improve efficiency, reduce costs or spend less money than they have. They will always try to get more money from taxpayers so they can grow in size, power and authority. There is no reason to believe that any government leaders will have any more ethics, morals, incentive to improve services or cut costs than the most unethical, dishonest and corrupt capitalist. Sure, there are many productive, efficient government employees, but we are talking about government organizations, and their leaders here. This is exactly why socialism will never work. The “socialist leaders” will always reward those who support them instead of those who want to improve efficiency and reduce cost.
