I’m offended by the Sunday letter, “Concept evolves, despite objections,” asserting that “The Tea Party faction would even take us back” to when women and blacks could not vote. I have never seen any Tea Party entity suggest such a thing, and while political hyperbole is to be expected, slinging this kind of mud is just beyond the pale.
I would remind the writer that as the next presidential election approaches, the three most prominent Tea Party standard-bearers are Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain — two women and a black man.
As to the statement that Dennis Kucinich has a right to run for office in Washington, no one has disputed that fact. Previous writers have merely wanted to let Mr. Kucinich know that we’re not as eager as New Yorkers to be ruled by people who come here only to rule us.
