Congratulations to teacher Bob Coleman, and students in the three, fourth grade classes at Glenwood Elementary school in Lake Stevens who wrote, illustrated, edited, and published their own books! (June 17 article, “Glenwood fourth-graders write their own books.”)
And thank you to The Herald for covering this story and for posting Andrew White’s story, “Super Squirrel” online! It was such a pleasure to read about a school where teachers have found ways for writing to be a positive experience for both the young writers and for the real world audience who read the stories! In a time of state mandated test writing, it’s not always easy to hold onto the creative, and I commend Mr. Coleman and Glenwood Elementary school fourth graders for finding a way to make their creative writing voices heard!
