I am amused and confused by Thursday’s letter to the editor, where the writer compares school superintendents’ salaries to those of major league ballplayers. (“It’s a matter of priorities.”)
First, we do not pay the ballplayers with our hard-earned tax dollars. Second, the writer indicates that our school superintendents make in the area of $150,000 per year. Think again.
I would support and agree if our school superintendents made only $150,000 per year. That should be the top salary for all school superintendents in Snohomish County; they are worth no more than that. We cut back on teachers, yet the superintendents live like fat cats.
It is time for all district school boards to wake up and think about the taxpayers, teachers and students, not just the overpaid administrative staff members.
