Recently, there have been numerous letters from students and parents in the Marysville School District. I have been a parent of two children in this district for 11 years, and I would like to express my sincere thanks to all of the teachers and classified staff whom we have had the pleasure of knowing. My children have been at Marshall Elementary, Allen Creek Elementary, 10th Street School, Marysville-Pilchuck High School and Marysville Arts and Technology High School.
In the time that I have visited their classrooms as a parent volunteer, helped with reading groups, chaperoned field trips and served on PTSA, I have yet to meet the teacher who does not care about their students or education. The classrooms have all been decorated at their own expense, and to my knowledge all have brought crates of extra materials, books, puzzles and educational games. I have never met a teacher here who is only in education for three reasons: June, July and August.
My children’s teachers have been willing to work extra hours before and after school, and have made themselves available for conferencing at any time. My daughter has required some special accommodations, and these needs have more than been met with speech and occupational therapists. The secretaries and classified staff who patrol the recess fields, supervise and prepare lunch and custodial staff have also been friendly, cooperative and helpful.
My hat is off to all the employees in this district. To the students who were miffed at having to attend in their summer months, there are children throughout the world who would love to have an American education and all the opportunities that come with going on to college and university.
