I think most people agree that our government needs to make changes. The “Occupy” movement, which is in The Herald often, indicates a large number of people are in a state of unrest and are disgusted with wrong bailouts, high unemployment, Wall Street brokers, big banks, and politicians in general.
I believe the protesters are protesting to the bottom of the ladder — no changes will come. Changes must come from higher on the ladder.
The “Occupy” movement, along with other disgusted people, could post all the names and length of term in office for Congress on the Internet, or publish them. People could promote term limits for all politicians of not more than two terms. This would eliminate career politicians and retirement benefits.
The money spent on retirement benefits could be used for campaign funds and divided equally between all who run for office.
People could also pressure Congress or the legal system to declare lobbying illegal — they obligate our politicians to the point that they don’t care about us.
