It was an honor to attend the beautiful, heart-wrenching memorial for Everett Police Officer Dan Rocha on April 4 (“‘Never forgotten’: Memorial honors slain Everett police officer,” The Herald, April 4).
As we waited to get inside the arena, we stood near uniformed police officers from many parts of the country, as well as throughout our State. The words from our Everett mayor, Cassie Franklin “This tragedy has shaken our community to its core,” are so true.
Police officers are vital in our communities and they need our ongoing support and respect. They spend every day doing a great job guarding our lives and property, often at risk to themselves. Take time to let them know you appreciate their efforts!
