Thank veterans for protecting rights

I’m glad to have served 30 years to protect the right of Thursday’s letter writer (“Schools are no place for ideology”) to speak his beliefs freely and without fear of retribution. I didn’t notice a “thank you” anywhere in his opinion.

One day his ideals might be the norm of this world. Until the time when nation states all over drop their guards and do a big group hug, I’ll vote to keep our country militarily strong and positioned to protect the freedoms we all share.
