On Tuesday a neighbor showed up at our door to tell us that she had noticed that the door of the house across the street from us had been left open about 10 inches since Sunday. She noticed it in passing and knew that the people who lived there had left in their motorhome early Sunday morning. She didn’t know the people and did not know that they had a daughter who is there even when her folks leave. We checked it out and saw that her bedroom window shades were also closed, and it was during the day and she never had them closed during the day. We are with the Neighborhood Watch and I knew to call 911.
I did not try to get in but was worried that something might have happened to my neighbor. The Marysville Police were here very quickly and checked it out, knocking and shouting her name, telling her that they were the police. No answer. The policeman called for backup and pulled the lock on the storm door open and, thank God, they found her alive, but in critical condition, on the floor inside.
I am so glad that we have caring people here, in our neighborhood, who watch and know to notify the Neighborhood Watch when they see something they find unusual. I think that neighbor gave my other neighbor a chance to live. I don’t know how she is today, but we are all praying for her.
