As my Mom grows older, our roles as mother and daughter are changing, like the ocean waves constantly reshaping the shoreline.
I am thankful for the wonderful memories we share of holiday meals together. Fresh-baked sugar cookies that my brother and I would get to decorate at Christmas, as well as eating several along the way. The creative games my Mom came up with to keep us occupied during long road trips, so my brother and I would not fight. Camping trips to Deception Pass, exploring tide pools, and campfire ranger talks at Cougar Rock at Mount Rainier. Walking to local parks to play and discover new wonders.
Today we go on a weekly trip for grocery shopping, do other errands, and have lunch together. Yes, our roles are changing, but I am very thankful for my Mom and all the great memories we share.
