Regarding “The Last Smokestack” series:
I would like to extend a huge thank you to Debra Smith and Mark and Annie Mulligan on behalf of former Kimberly-Clark/Scott Paper employees.
Debra, Mark and Annie did such a great job telling our stories, not just about the closure, but also the pride in our work and the close friendships we’ve developed working here.
Interesting also that even longtime retired employees still feel the pride, and now the sadness.
Lots of tears as we read the stories.
As the last of us walk out the gate for the last time on Friday the 13th and Sunday, April 15, we will walk with our heads held high as did our coworkers before us, knowing that we did everything in our power to keep this mill running. As the last person walks out the gate we’ll know we have worked with pride and integrity and we will all be OK as we move forward into the next phase of our lives.
We are proud American workers!
Thanks so much for being our voice.
