Thanks for making tough time easier

I’m a motorcycle trooper with the Washington State Patrol. On July 15, I was involved in a collision on the ramp from northbound Highway 525 to northbound Highway 99.

First I would like to thank the responding aid crew and emergency room staff at Providence Everett Medical Center’s Colby Campus for the first-rate medical treatment (and witty conversations). It made a rather stressful time a little easier to handle.

Secondly, and most importantly, I would like to thank the people who stopped to help me after I crashed. It seemed like just a matter of a couple of seconds and I was completely surrounded by the people whom I’ve “sworn to protect.” At the time I was unable to get up and didn’t know if I was lying in the road or on the shoulder. Having you around me like that gave me a sense of protection and allowed me to calm down a bit.

I know that my helpers ranged from having various degrees of medical training to no medical training. I just want you all to know that each and every one of you played an important role in helping me. From the phone calls to 911, to surrounding me for protection, to the triage I received (ice pack and all), to the kind words you all gave me.

I want to thank you all. I’m just sorry I wasn’t able to thank each of you personally. Your help was appreciated and won’t be forgotten.
