Thank you for Julie Muhlstein’s wonderful article about Russell Day and his incredibly full life (“Russell Day, gifted founder of EvCC art program, dies at 106,” The Herald, Jan. 18).
I never met Mr. Day, but as a local high school art teacher, myself, for a number of years it is gratifying to read about an artist and teacher who had such an amazing impact on the many students he mentored (famous or not) and the local arts community as well. His influence obviously went far beyond the walls of his classroom! How fortunate for all of us that he chose to teach art at Everett Community College rather than the University of Washington or UCLA!
As a side note, I would simply like to say how much I appreciate and enjoy Muhlstein’s writing. She brings so many aspects of both the local community and of Snohomish County, that otherwise might go unnoticed, to the readers of The Herald. Thank you for this!
