A big thank you is in order to numerous people in this community. In the early morning of Jan. 13, an incident occurred at Providence Everett Medical Center’s Colby Campus that required expert critical thinking and immediate action. I want to thank everyone involved for their swift and professional approach in dealing with the situation. Our Emergency Department leadership and staff took bold and appropriate action to initiate emergency response procedures. Working with local law enforcement officials, including the Everett Police Department and the Snohomish County Sheriff, Providence Everett Security officers quickly secured our Colby Campus facility, ensuring the safety and security of hundreds of patients and employees. Physicians, employees and volunteers reported for stand-by duty, willing to help out in any way necessary.
Because of the well-planned coordination and execution of assignments, the best possible outcome was achieved: no patients, employees, physicians or law enforcement officers were injured, and the suspect was apprehended. These actions were an unbelievable display of community effort and collaboration. It makes me proud to be a part of this community, and proud to represent Providence Everett Medical Center.
