This year we provided new school clothing to 2,407 children at our facility even though winter weather conditions forced us to close our doors for seven days. In addition, we were able to expand our retail teen program to clothe 378 Snohomish County high school students through our partnership with local Fred Meyer stores. Of course, none of this would be possible without the tremendous support we receive from the community. Your donations, as well as your patronage of our Thrift Shop and estate sales, help to raise the money needed to purchase the clothes we provide. We also have many businesses that support us through generous grants and donations to our annual auction.
The real heroes are our volunteers who put in many, many hours making sure everything runs smoothly for the children coming through our doors. They are truly committed to improving the lives of Snohomish County children in need. The staffs at the schools, including the volunteer drivers who transport children to and from Operation School Bell, also deserve our recognition and heartfelt thanks. And a special thank you goes to our dedicated crafters who knit hats and scarves. What a treat for a child to choose a warm knit hat made by hand!
Although the clothing we provide will soon be outgrown or worn out, the positive effects of a community coming together to care for its children will carry forward in ways we can’t even imagine.
