We want to offer a huge “thank you” to the generous citizens of Monroe and to our dedicated letter carriers from the Postal Service. On May 11, the Sky Valley Food Bank was the recipient of 9,254 pounds of non-perishable food collected from mailboxes throughout the community. The 2013 Letter Carriers’ Food Drive will make a major difference in feeding our city’s hungry through the lean summer months. We appreciate all the extra work involved for our post office employees — thanks for putting in such a long, hard day on behalf of our neighbors in need! Big thanks as well to the 35 volunteers who worked all afternoon at the Food Bank to get everything sorted and stowed away. We are grateful to live in such a caring, giving community!
