This past weekend the Marysville Strawberry Festival celebrated it’s 92nd year! A lot of activities took place including a carnival, large market with many different vendors and food vendors, free entertainment, car show, trike race, strawberry eating contest, pickleball, golf and cornhole tournaments, rose planting, beer gardens and of course the Grand Parade. It was nice to see these events well attended and in fact growing in popularity.
The parade start time at 5 p.m. was great as it brought out more families and you had time to do other events after the parade. Plus it was nice to see so many out of town participants in the parade and our local bands and schools being represented.
I want to thank the City of Marysville for their support and the Tulalip Tribes and Casino for their sponsorship and support of these wonderful events. Plus the many other sponsors that have committed to the festival. I’m sure without their support the Strawberry Festival Board and Committee would not have been able to have all these activities.
Having been a past volunteer and serving on the board for many years, I know how hard the Members of the Festival Board and all their volunteers work the months before planning and working events to bring us all this entertainment. It is great to see that after 92 years the Strawberry Festival is still going strong and adding more events each year.
This is great family entertainment and having moved the Grand Parade a week later so it didn’t coincide with Father’s Day weekend was a great idea. I think it made it possible for more families to attend.
Volunteering your time and energy to our community helps it grow stronger and it’s a great way to meet new people and make new friends. If you are considering doing volunteer work for our great city please check out the Marysville Strawberry Festival (www.marysvillestrawberryfestival.com). They would love to hear from you.Thank you again to all the Board Members and the many volunteers for putting on a week of enjoyment and entertainment. Looking forward to the 93rd year of celebrating the strawberry!
