To Nancy Kasper of Bothell, thank you for your marvelous letter, “Congressmen cheating on us,” published in Thursday’s Herald. I wish to reinforce your knowledge that all 535 senators and representatives in the U.S. Congress are elected by their constituents.
And, to get term limits, we the people do not have to wait for term limit legislation to be passed. We can vote these people out of office; all it takes is a simple majority. However, that is more than a little difficult. Many of those incumbents have been re-elected many times; even those whose behavior is less than exemplary. And you don’t have to look very far for wonderful examples.
I’ve just about given up hope; but maybe someday our electorate will wake up and throw the rascals out, but I recommend you don’t hold your breath waiting.
