Even though it’s a common surgery, we’ve allowed a culture of shame over a medical procedure.
Abortions are not tragedies as the right-wing would have us believe, but often the best and only ethical choice. A very large number of anti-abortionists are only anti-abortion until they need one. For good reason, most Americans still think abortion should be legal — in a free country, “choice” is a given.
Now, another good doctor has been brutally murdered by a domestic terrorist on American soil, aided and abetted by constant character assassinations executed by the traitorous right-wing pundit class, who profit mightily from stirring up the anger of the deluded.
We need to turn the culture of shame around and focus it on the Bill O’Reillys, Randall Terrys, Bill Donohues, Patrick Mahoneys — along with the rest of their “spiritual” brethren — and make it clear that through their hateful rhetoric they are as responsible for murder as the coward who killed George Tiller in cold blood in front of his family. The “moderates” call doctors “baby killers” and then claim they want peaceful dialogue.
Dr. Tiller was a man who saved thousands of women from desperate situations that most of us would never even want to contemplate.
What good have any of these professional hate-spewers done for anyone?
Whoever killed Tiller has proved pathetic the lie of the so-called pro-life movement.
