Letters written against John Koster continue to engage in half-truths and outright falsehoods about him and his campaign. Mike Ashley would be better served by his supporters if they promoted his character and agenda rather than attacking John Koster.
First, John is not some right-wing religious fanatic. A review of his history as a legislator discloses a strictly secular agenda.
Second, the legislation he introduced regarding Freedom County was simply to provide a device from which to determine the will of the people of Snohomish County at the ballot box. He was presented with legal petitions signed by the required number of Snohomish County registered voters to bring the bill before the state Legislature. As the state representative for the 39th District, he could not ignore the petitions. There was nothing in his actions to indicate he did or did not support the formation of Freedom County.
John’s priorities lie in public safety; the adequate staffing of the sheriff’s department; concern for the environment but not at the expense of any single group such as our farmers; better roads; a healthy economy; concern for the effect of rising property taxes on our senior citizens; and a common sense approach to a leaner and more efficient government.
I have been acquainted with John Koster for several years. He is a good, honest man and superbly qualified for the job of Snohomish County Councilman.
