So many houses advertised for sale! And yet only one in 10 would be affordable for me, and just barely that. I’m certainly not alone in being dismayed by skyrocketing real estate prices over the last year, especially. Average wages and earning power have not risen anywhere near as much (unless you’re a real estate investor, developer or selling agent of course).
I’m putting my house up for sale for a reasonable profit (well below the median price in Snohomish County) and agents are calling me to list it with them. I was told by some of the agents that if I add their percentage onto my asking price I won’t miss the commission deduction. Sure, no problem, except that would put the price much higher – putting it even more out of reach for many buyers. I’m not a socialist or “bleeding heart liberal” but its not hard to see the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer right before your eyes.
