Duane Dow is nearly on track in his Oct. 22 letter (“Election season: Won’t we all be glad when it’s over?”) but it sounds as if he’s still wasting his time trying to determine which politician will best represent his interests. I’ll bet that he’s the type who reads the paper and pamphlets, or listens to radio talk shows and debates, or attends public meetings to help him pick the correct candidate. Waste of time, Duane.
I used to be that way too, but after many years found out it didn’t matter who got elected, they were only interested in their own agendas. Being a patriot I feel compelled to vote, so I adopted the “vote by sign” method. While Duane is counting total signs, I am counting signs per candidate in each race. It’s obvious to me that the more signs you can field the better qualified you must be. I no longer care about party or promises, I just vote for the person with the most signs planted by election day. It’s a no-brainer, if you can count.
There must be thousands of voters who use the “vote by sign” method. That’s why the politicians installed a sign ordinance permitting their signs to clutter taxpayer owned property, with fines for those who remove them. I’m sure the Everett City Council and mayor will stand in line to support an effort to keep their own signs from trashing our roadways for four long months.
A big thanks to all of you politicians for trashing our city, and for helping me to make those important election day choices. Hey, this works for those confusing initiatives too.
