Though they do not come out and ask for it, I believe the military needs the support of the people. I may be biased because my boyfriend is in the army and I love him with my whole heart, but at the same time I also have reason to not support this war. I am scared to death of what may happen over in Iraq and it is even harder to sit here and take the word of the government that what may happen is all for the good of our country. But I believe we should trust and support them. I am proud of the military and I trust that what they do is the right thing.
People have the right to protest, of course, but I hope they remember that their right to be out protesting was given to them because of the soldiers who sacrificed and fought for them. And I even understand the protests, but my question is, would they rather things stay as they are? Do we want to live our lives in this constant fear? I am not saying that a war with Iraq will necessarily change everything, but it is a start.
I am too young to have voted for Bush and I am not caught up with our country politically, but I believe that anyone in that position will do what is right. He was elected by the people and I believe that what he does is in the best interest of the people, even if at the time we cannot see completely why. He would not risk the lives of Americans, the lives of family members, friends and loved ones, unless there were reason to do so. We, as Americans, should show our faith, our trust and our support.
