They’re making a lot of bad decisions

I have to agree with letter writers Christine Fitch, (July 5, “PUD: Let penny-pinching begin with salaries”) and more recently Nels Konnerrup (July 20, “PUD Salary: Hansen should consider his options”) about the exorbitant amount of money that Ed Hansen is getting for starting pay at the PUD. It’s time for administrators to start giving up some of their perks and money until they have a proven track record. In two or three years, when Hansen’s performance is reviewed and if he meets the public’s expectations, then maybe give him some of the money back as an incentive.

The PUD is wrong in cutting blue-collar jobs to save money. Also the lawsuit against the consulting firm is ridiculous and will end up costing most likely three times the money that was “overpaid” to the consultant.

I just see a lot of bad decisions coming out of the PUD these days. Cutting jobs and lining the pockets of Ed Hansen are two of them. He hasn’t even had his first ‘at-bat’ yet. He should do the right thing and help the public and the PUD workers get some confidence. Don’t be like a major league ball player and be so greedy.
