Well, now we have it. Our Saudi “allies” have come out and said that should we decide to go to war with Iraq, we can’t do it from Saudi Arabia, a country that we protected from Saddam Hussein in 1991. But why should we be surprised?
Saudi Arabia has and is heavily supporting anti-American terrorists, this is without question, Al Qaeda has deep Saudi roots. According to the Washington Post (Aug. 6), in a recent Pentagon briefing, Saudi Arabia was characterized as “…active at every level of the terror chain, from planners to financiers, from cadre to foot-soldier, from ideologist to cheerleader.”
Why don’t they take care of this if they are such good American allies?
Not only are Saudi rulers, like the rest of the Arab ruling class, frightened to death of their people, they are cowardly and culturally backward. They are too weak to solve their problems and things will only get worse there and everywhere else in the Muslim world.
So why do we still insist they are such good friends? Well, it’s probably oil, and this alone is a good reason to topple Saddam Hussein; then we can cut Saudi Arabia loose.
