I want to commend Aaron Swaney for his excellent article on the Mariner High School girls basketball team.
There is so much more to high school sports (and all extra-curricular activities) than scores, records and standings. I am so impressed by the hard work and determination shown by the Mariner girls as well as the friendships they value so greatly and their ambitions for the future.
I am further impressed by Coach Corey Gibb’s caring spirit, values and his leadership. Genna Martin’s photograph of Arnela Grebovic hugging Coach Gibb is worth a thousand words.
We are blessed in Snohomish County with an abundance of excellent high school coaches and wonderful student athletes who teach and learn skills for life and understand the big picture. I encourage you all to get out and support your local school teams, bands, choirs, drama clubs and other activities.
And to Coach Gibb and the Mariner High School girls basketball team, in my mind you are most certainly winners.
