A recent letter to the editor regarding Herald Columnist Tom Burke’s column “ignorant and vitriolic” should not go unanswered.
The writers says there “could be” Christian nationalists. No. There are. Fact. The “liberal media” is not hysterical, but simply doing its duty to inform the public of these groups, who are a danger to our country. (If you’re way out on the right, moderate people always seem liberal.)
The writer says she knows lots of good Christians. Good for her; so do I. I also know lots of good Germans, but that does not mean that the Holocaust never happened. Simply listing the good things that Christians do does not absolve some of them from attempting to turn our country into a racist theocracy.
She says Burke is dividing people. No, he’s speaking truth. Then she really shows her true stripes when she describes herself as an “unapologetic ally voting for Trump.” Trump is the antithesis of everything Christian; he is the greatest, most vitriolic divider in American history.
