Have you had enough of unpunished car thefts being allowed to continue? When are we going to start treating these people who steal our cars like the criminals that they are?
I have had my car stolen four times in the last six years. Two times from the same apartment building, same garage – all four times in Everett! Every time it has been returned and not one officer has taken a fingerprint or evidence from the “crime scene.” I asked the officer why and he said, “You have been watching too much television. Just because we get fingerprints doesn’t mean we have the person who stole your car. We go and ask them about it and they say, ‘Sure they were in that car. Their friend came and picked them up in it and they rode in it. That doesn’t mean they stole it.’ “
I would bet that they would find those fingerprints connected to the fingers of a repeat offender and they could at least ask him some questions. It’s called investigation!
Neal Ryan Kelly, who allegedly killed a rookie Seattle police officer with a stolen car, had 20 felony convictions on his record. His record revealed that he stole cars repeatedly and often used them against the police officers that chased him. There is no way he should have been on the streets to steal one more car! How on Earth did that happen? When are we going to start handling these car thefts like the crimes that they are?
It is not a minor crime. It is a very serious crime. Officer Knox won’t be able to stand up and fight for her right, but we sure can. The time has come for these criminals to be hunted down and sent away for a long time.
