It appears that there will be lots of interest in oil development in the Alaskan National Wildlife Reserve, with some attacking one of our senators for her courageous stand against a back-door approach to authorizing development there. Alaska’s senator for life, referred to affectionately as “Uncle Ted” Stevens, shows his ability to be arrogant and a bully. He has perfected the act very well. Soon he may show up in our state to attempt to tell us who we should elect. There are already rumors to that affect.
As for me, I am more concerned about global warming. I wish Congress would get as excited about that as they do about the tiny bit of oil at stake in Alaska.
Those who follow the money realize that it is about money. Who will get rich and why? When national leadership gets as excited about energy conservation as they do about pumping more oil, then it will be time to listen to them.
