With disgust and anger I read the Sept. 30 article titled “McDermott says Iraq promises cooperation.” The title alone should be enough to get this man thrown out of Congress. He states further that “Bush might mislead Americans about the threat Iraq poses,” and that “It would not surprise me if they came with information that is not provable. I think the president would mislead the American people.”
It is inconceivable that a congressman can make such statements, in effect saying that our president is lying to us, and never make mention of the fact that his apparent idol, Saddam Hussein, has lied and cheated for the past 11 years. All the while, Saddam continues in his attempts to shoot down our aircraft patrolling the no-fly zones in Iraq.
It is clear that Mr. McDermott believes the word of Saddam Hussein and not that of our president. Saddam Hussein could not find a better spokesman. Why does this man continue to be elected? The voters in Mr. McDermott’s district and the state of Washington should be ashamed. I certainly am.
