When I woke the other morning after hearing a Silvertips player come home from the 4-0 game in the playoffs, I found a note on the counter: “At 3 A.M. while we were driving home, there was a little dog lying in the middle of the street. I brought it home and made a bed for it. I didn’t want to call the number on the dog tag and wake them up.”
I found a tiny dog bedded down in the garage. I called the number on the tag and was told about Mitzi – she’s 15, blind, deaf and had gotten out at 3 p.m. and the owner had looked everywhere. She had wandered four blocks away and apparently decided to take a nap on the warm blacktop. When the owner came, Mitzi could only smell her scent, but the cuddling and licking was more rewarding than a hockey win. Thanks, Shane.
