In regard to the Aug. 8 article, “Democrats decry GOP tactics.” The Republicans have “infiltrated” the Greens in order to try to draw away votes from the Democrats? I think it’s an interesting attempt, but it really shows that the old major parties are clueless.
Most people who already vote for Democrats and Republicans are not going to change their minds. Most people who will vote for third parties are those who have quit voting for the main parties. They’re tired of wasting their vote, because the old major parties ignore the wishes of the people. In our Legislature especially, it’s very difficult to tell the difference between a Republican who introduces legislation for a new minimum wage, and a Democrat who supports tax hand-outs to large corporations.
So what can you do, Mr. and Ms. Voter? If you have always voted for Democrats and Republicans, please keep at it. If you do the same thing long enough, you might actually get something different. If you quit voting because you knew the politicians didn’t care about you, now is your chance. Support your local Green and Libertarian candidates.
