Reconcile this: We have an opioid crises. People are addicted and choosing to take too many drugs. So we spend millions of our dollars to try and deal with it — not combat it. Smart?
I grew up in the ’70s; I experimented.
The most powerful and addictive drug I have ever used is tobacco. Yet we tax this drug and enable its use, its addiction, for a revenue stream. This drug kills way more than opioids. Where are the safe houses to smoke? Or eat Big Macs, Blizzards, Cheetos, fried chicken, etc., leading to obesity and heart disease and death?
I have to sign a contract to get a pain medicine for age-related pain, yet in reality, I could go obtain meth or heroine on the street? Really? A ‘Christian’ I know suggested poisoning all of the drugs from related arrests of narcotics, notifying the public, then releasing them back onto the streets. If the users choose to use drugs, they decide their fate. But, as a successful self-made businessman, and contributor to the community, I struggle to see, on an occasional basis some medication for age-related pain. Insanity and hypocrisy are in no danger of challenge. Pathetic.
