I recently read the May 20 article, “Civil rights, uncivil talk in Mill Creek,” in the Local section of The Herald. It was about a man named John Robinson, who went to the mayor with a complaint about an offensive T-shirt.
Where does he get off thinking he has the right to decide what’s decent and indecent? If he thinks he has reason to ban people from stores because their clothing disrupts his peace of mind, then why should he be allowed to speak while his inane ideas upset my peace of mind? If Mr. Robinson wants to change the world with his lobster analogy, why doesn’t he start with something a little more important, like tolerance?
