In regard to the Tuesday letter, “Don’t give up on U.S. products: Apparently rich elitist business owners can afford $80 for a pair of blue jeans, but I will stick to my $30 Levi’s (no matter what hands make them) thank you very much.
It is no wonder the “U.S. made” goods have been priced out of the marketplace. One of the major factors contributing to the huge price difference is the local trade unions the writer is so fond of. Normal blue collar (non union) working stiffs like me who have mouths to feed don’t have the luxury (or time) to pick and choose every item that we purchase to ensure the person who made it is a highly paid U.S. union worker.
Lastly check the label on your underwear. Fruit of the Loom? Hanes? Made in the U.S.A.? I don’t think so.
