Over the last several days, I’ve noticed front page coverage in The Herald of the Watchmen on the Walls event at the Lynnwood Convention Center. I’ve been curious why, in a county with nearly three quarters of a million people, this event, which drew a couple hundred participants and about as many protesters, is news.
It really seems, save for The Herald’s coverage, largely irrelevant. Then I saw Sunday’s Herald. Front page coverage again. But look closely at the large front page photo of the protesters. Out of focus in the background is a street sign proclaiming “Merge Left.” I guess, intentional or not, this photo explains a great deal.
