I will tell you the problem with WASL math. They stopped teaching the basic foundation of math and now they wonder why the house is falling down. When has math been reading? Math is numbers and formulas. Not reading story problems or writing explanations on how you solved it. A lot of people know how to do something but have a hard time explaining to someone how they did it. Now are we to say they didn’t master that skill? No.
One other thing about the WASL. When are we going to look at the broken WASL test and stop blaming the students? Stop the waste of millions on a single test and start putting money back in the classrooms. Just a thought.
