Yeah for Julie Carlson! I applaud her for setting high standards for herself and other around her. (Friday letter, “It’s time to raise our expectations.“)
I raised my daughter to believe she could do anything and she
has done just that. The one problem I see is parents who are so scared of their own children or the system that “protects” them, that they allow the teenagers to run the household.
What happened to a firm hand to guide them? Or setting standards for ourselves to show them what is right? As Julie said, “start setting those standards” and start believing in the teenagers as well, then maybe we would see some changes. Quit letting them off with a slap on the wrist, make them responsible for their actions. Help them to become the future leaders of this world and by God’s grace they will become good ones.
