I have been opposed to the NASCAR track site in Smokey Point since I first heard about it. We live next to the airport, and even though my husband is a NASCAR fan, we didn’t want the noise and congestion in our area.
But if it’s true that this land is going to be built up anyway, I’d rather have the track than hundreds of houses or big industry that would bring all that traffic to our area seven days a week instead of two really big weekends a year and smaller events on other weekends. And if the cost for the new freeway ramps, widening of roads and fixing that mess of traffic between Smokey Point Boulevard and I-5 isn’t going to cost me any more tax money because the people responsible for the track will be paying it, I’m beginning to see that this option isn’t so bad. Something to think about.
