In reference to Bob Nelson’s letter (“Bush’s visit: Time and vote lost,” Sept. 28), I have one question: What color is the sky in his world? Does the writer seriously think that if Al Gore or Bill Clinton had gone to Monroe (which, I’d like to point out they didn’t, at least George W. Bush did) traffic wouldn’t have been stopped? It is common practice for security reasons to clear the route for a motorcade, such as that of a president, vice president or a presidential candidate. This is done in every city they visit.
The letter writer asked, “Guess who I’m going to vote for now?” Well, let me take a stab at it: Gore. I think the writer’s reason is a bit bizarre, but I must admit Gore’s not going to Monroe is the best reason I’ve heard yet to vote for him.
