A new mini city at Lake Roesiger. I hope everyone really thinks about this and lets the County Council know what is very wrong with this idea.
First, there are only four rural roads to this area. Two come off from Machias Road, a road that is backed up for miles each and every morning trying to get into the City of Snohomish or up to Highway 9. Those two roads (OK Mill Road and Dubuque Road) are not the kind of roads that can handle 15,000 people. They both will need major upgrades to make them safe. Who is going to pay for that? You know it will not be the developer of the mini-city. The third road comes out of Granite Falls. The logging trucks from Granite Falls to Highway 9 have made that road extremely dangerous. Another 15,000 people in that direction doesn’t sound logical either. And the fourth road leads into Monroe. Highway 2 in Monroe is the biggest mess yet, and no funding to widen it.
We need to be helping our cities now deal with their lack of good roads due to the county ignoring that problem while letting development run rampant for the last 15 years.
I say no new city anywhere until we have no more room in our current cities and lots of money to spend.
